Alexina began her career as a consultant focused on sustainable development and the role of government and technology in securing strategic industries like energy, telecoms, and "green" products. During this time, Alexina explored the convergence of analog and digital telephony and the business models that supported a transition to a modern, digital-first communications system. Before starting law school, she used these analytical, commercial, and communications skills to support small and medium sized businesses to expand their market presence.

As an attorney, Alexina continued to work on technology and government matters. Her practice involved regulatory and intellectual property topics, creation of strategic relationships, and fraud, corruption and litigation work. Across these varied subjects was a commitment to tackling novel concepts, thinking through the nuances and eventualities of complex issues, and developing compelling narratives to drive decisions and common ground for confident action.

Innovative thinking was always a part of how Alexina took on complex and system-level issues. But within AES Corporation's customer and innovation business areas, she gained deep expertise in both the process and governance of cleantech innovation as well as her passion for transforming the electrical grid into a modern system that is smart and digital, and increasingly distributed and decarbonized. Alexina further honed her collaborative approach to solution creation to work for the individual business, its customer, and the surrounding ecosystem of stakeholders. In an industry as strategically important as energy, a path built on compromise and shared wins is a path to timely action and meaningful results.
